American rapper, Chance The Rapper coming to Ghana because of Sarkodie

Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie made history as he became the first-ever African rapper to win the “Best International Flow” award at 2019 BET Hip-hop Awards.

In his short speech, he dedicated his award to his daughter, Titi, gave a shout out to Akon─apparently, to catch his attention for collaboration and also urged all musicians and patrons to make Ghana their destination when coming to Africa.

In his speech he said;

“This year is the Year of Return and I will urge each and every one of you here to take a trip back home. When you’re coming to Africa, choose Ghana” he’s heard saying after picking up his award

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy make peace?

The two dancehall stalwarts, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have been in the news recently for all the bad reasons.

The two have been beefing for as long as one can remember and that reached its apogee with the gun-pulling fracas that occurred on stage at the just ended Vodafone Music Awards.

But today, to the surprise of many, A picture of the two sitting side by side on similar looking chairs on a lawn was posted by Shatta Wale who is widely seen as the antagonist in the beef between the two with the caption ” Unity is strength ‬
‪Love is the key to many doors ‬
‪Brotherhood is Loyalty ‬
‪Peace is Freedom ..‬
‪My brother and I got a great vision for Ghana music and we taking it to the world.

The question many are asking is, have the two decided to smoke the peace pipe? if Yes, will this peace last?

Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale banned from VGMAs

Ghanaian dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have been banned indefinitely from participating in all aspects of the country’s foremost music award scheme, the Vodafone Music Awards (VGMAs).

Per the decision, they have lost their legibility for VGMAs nominations, selections and performances.

The decision was taken Thursday by the board of the award scheme following a brawl between the two feuding musicians at the 20th anniversary of the VGMAs in Accra last Saturday, which saw one of them pulling out a handgun.

Board member Nat Brew Amandzeba explained at a news conference that the action of the Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale on the night “brought the name of the event into disrepute”.

He stated the decision was taken after “careful deliberations” and “extensive consultation” with stakeholders in the music industry.

But in a rather interesting turn, Shatta Wale posted on social media few minutes to the announcement that he has pulled out of the award scheme going forward.

“Upon sober reflections of events in recent times and having made broader consultations, I wish to announce that I will not be part of the Ghana Music Awards scheme going forward. God bless!”, he posted on Facebook.

The rivalry between the two artistes hit the roof in the wee hours of Sunday after Shatta Wale and his multitude of fans attempted to mount the stage uninvited to join Stonebwoy who was receiving the 2019 Reggae and Dancehall Artiste of the Year award.

Stonebwoy who felt threatened by the manner his bitter rival approached the stage pulled out a handgun handed him on stage by one of his entourage, a scene that sparked a scuffle between the two artistes and their followers.

The awards event was temporarily halted and the topmost two awards for the event, Most Popular Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year, were deferred due to the melee which has widely been condemned by stakeholders in the industry.

Both Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were invited by the police for questioning on Sunday and have since been charged and put before the court.

Charged and bailed

A magistrate in Accra on Wednesday set their bail condition at a total of 100,000 cedis after prosecutors brought charges against them over their near-bloody scuffle at Saturday’s awards night.

Their lawyers had argued for a self-recognisance bail on grounds that the two accused persons were known figures in the music industry and would avail themselves for the trial.

Though prosecutors did not oppose the request for bail, they asked the court to let the two artistes to sign a bond to be of good behaviour.

But the magistrate, Isaac Addo, rejected the request of self-recognisance bail, and set their bail condition at 50,000 cedis each with one surety.

Both stars are charged with issuing threats and using abusive words with the intent to disturb public peace, with Stonebwoy facing count of displaying weapon in public place without permission. The gun is an Australian gun INFK 158 with butt number AA792002017.

They have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate asked the accused persons to be of good behaviour in the course of the trial and warned them against any acts that could impede the case.

They are expected in court again on June 20.

The music industry hates me; they wish me ill – Shatta Wale

Reggae/Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has said although Ghana loves him, the music industry and its players hate him and wish he never played any hit songs again…

Reggae/Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has said although Ghana loves him, the music industry and its players hate him and wish he never played any hit songs again.

His comments come following a clash between him and his archrival Stonebwoy at the just-ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, 18 May 2019.

“Ghana loves me but the music industry and its players hate me so much that they wish I never played any hit song again but [the] laws of Ghana will work …,” Shatta Wale tweeted after the show.

SHATTA WALE

@shattawalegh

Ghana loves me

But the music industry and its players hate me so much that they wish I never played any hit song again ..
BUT LAWS OF GHANA WILL WORK …

The confusion happened when Stonebwoy was announced as the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
Shatta Wale and his fans approached the podium to, ostensibly congratulate Stonebwoy, but events turned chaotic resulting in a lot of pushing and shoving – a situation that prompted Stonebwoy to pull out his pistol.
The security officers at the event pepper-sprayed the stage in an attempt to prevent a full-blown fight.
The “Kpok3k3” hitmaker later apologised for his actions.
“I’m sorry for the incident that happened earlier. I only had to react out of natural instincts because we all know how premeditative some people can be. We’ve seen on social media the threats and everything, so, we couldn’t come in unprepared because anything could have happened as you guys saw. I come in peace and I go in peace and I apologise to the whole of Ghana…” Stonebwoy said on stage when he picked his second award of the night after the show had resumed following the fracas.
Meanwhile, the two award-winning artistes were on Sunday afternoon invited by the Accra Regional Police Command and detained.
According to ClassFMonline.com sources, the two will be arraigned on Tuesday, 21 May 2019.

You Are A Jerk…Kaakie ‘Blasts’ Shatta Wale Over VGMA Brawl

Dancehall songstress Kaakie has broken her silence with respect to the confusion that rocked the 2019 VGMA.

Shatta Wale had walked onto the stage leading to a fight that broke out between his fans and those of Stonebwoy.

His walking to the stage was understood by Stonebwoy’s fans as an attack on their idol, forcing them to start an attack on him.

Kaakie who is currently in UK took a strong swipe at Shatta Wale for repeating what he did to her in 2012 after she was crowned Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

Kaakie is not happy with Shatta Wale’s behaviour by walking onto the stage.

She said if Shatta Wale wants to win awards he should work very hard.

Kaakie then spat fire on Shatta Wale
